A: Complete the application form found here.

What salary can I expect?

A: Your hourly wage is determined by the provincial government and currently ranges between $8.00 - $10.00 per hour.  Your employer is required to withhold income taxes, employment insurance premiums and Canada pension plan contributions from your pay.  In addition, an amount will be deducted for your room and board.  Depending upon location, you can expect to receive between approximately $1000 - $1200 per month.  For the most current information on wages, check the government website http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/advertReq/wageadreq.shtml#tphp.

What about medical coverage?

A: As a resident of Canada, your medical expenses will be covered under Provincial Health Care plans. Rates vary depending on the Province. In Alberta and Saskatchewan coverage is free. In BC, the cost is about $54 per month.

What will be my working hours?

A: A typical work week is 44 hours of work.  For work hours exceeding this, you will receive additional pay at a rate 50% above your standard wage.  You can arrange a work schedule with your employer that is satisfactory for both of you.

How long can I stay in Canada?

A: The normal work permit for a live-in caregiver is issued for three years.  One of the greatest benefits of the live-in caregiver program is that after two years of work, the caregiver may apply for permanent residency in Canada.  It is for this reason that we can attract the best in qualified and experienced caregivers.

How much do you charge me for registering with you?

A: We do not charge you anything for registering with us.  By law in Western Canada, the employer must pay the placement fee.

What is the cost of air-fare to Canada?

A: The cost varies, however special arrangements with our agents often allow us to arrange lower priced airfare than you can arrange yourself.

Can I work at a second job or go to school during my spare time?

A: No.  You may only work for one employer at a time – the one named on your work permit.  You may take occasional courses, but cannot enroll in a credit or full time course while working.
